They don’t wear a uniform or have a medical degree, but a group of local people play an important part of the work done by The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital at Buderim. They are our Hospital Volunteers, who give their time on a regular basis to help out. The volunteer groups, made up of local men and women (many of whom are retirees), get together each morning to perform important tasks like escorting patients from reception to the appropriate ward or theatre, distributing mail around the hospital, offering newspapers to the patients, and delivering meals to doctors working in the hospital. All Hospital Volunteers undertake safety and service training to help them in maintaining the high standard of service, adding another dimension to the quality care already provided at the hospital. |
