Our Maternity unit is supported by a multi-disciplinary group which includes several visiting obstetricians/gynaecologists, paediatricians and midwives, with one-on-one nursing provided during your labour. We even have an acupuncturist available for pain relief if you require. (www.lightacupuncture.com.au) Our birthing suites are fully equipped should an emergency occur. We have two Level 2 neonatal cots and also provide a Level 2-B neonatal care service. Registered nurses/midwives provide expert care for babies with special needs. The nursery at The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital is accredited to care for babies requiring specialised care and paediatricians are available to attend the hospital within minutes. If your labour commences before 34 weeks into your pregnancy, you may be transferred to a Brisbane hospital as babies born this early may require an Intensive Care Nursery. When your baby no longer requires this treatment you may be transferred back to The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital to grow and develop. Tours of our Maternity Unit are conducted on a regular basis. For details of available times, contact the hospital on 07 – 5430 3152 Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 2:30pm. We protect, promote and support breastfeeding from birth. Women who choose not to breastfeed are also supported in their decision. The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital is proud to have received international recognition as a Baby Friendly Hospital. Your nursing staff will provide you with personalised advice on any issues you are concerned about. We also supply postnatal exercise classes conducted by a physiotherapist to help your wellbeing after the birth |
