Mental health is rapidly becoming one of the major health issues facing Australia. The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital has the largest dedicated Mental Health Unit in regional Queensland. This 26 bed facility admits voluntary adult inpatients and day patients from as far afield as Caboolture in the south to Gladstone in the north. Patients are admitted under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist.

Our Mental Health Unit has a range of therapeutic programs for patients with emotional, psychological and psychiatric issues such as:

  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Eating Disorders
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Alcohol and Drug Dependency
  • Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT)
  • General Psychiatric Conditions

Our multi-disciplinary support team are professionally qualified and work with highly credentialed psychiatrists to help the patient develop better mental health and reconnect with their family, friends and community through individual and group therapy.

The Mental Health Unit is to be expanded further with the construction of a new, purpose-built stand-alone building, coming soon.
